Art News

Finally and not without considerable effort my friend Emma G. has received a grant for an art installation of truly massive proportions. The installation will consist of a gymnasium-sized building replete with rows of cots running along well over 70 percent of its floor space. The remainder of the space will be partitioned into cubicles for privacy. Around the perimeter of the space will be numerous showers. Volunteering subjects will serve as part of this revolving and everchanging art installation. They will come to its doors garbed as common "working folk" who are no longer working (or "homeless" people). They will come by the hundreds. They will come by the thousands, such is the interest in my friend Emma G.'s incomparably massive art installation, but unfortunately there will not be room for all of them. Many unfortunately will have to be turned away. So great is the interest in this art installation. For years my friend Emma has labored in social services in this our fair city but there is so little interest in what she does that she has I am happy to report moved into the far more fascinating milieu of cutting-edge art installation. The money she has received will keep the installation active through the winter and she is quite pleased about this because, as she enigmatically states, this winter is to be one of the coldest on record.
